Benefits of Air Filtration
Air filters are generally fairly thin protective devices that slide in between your duct and either furnace or air handler. They are designed for two purposes. One is to protect your furnace from airborne particles that could lead to the deterioration of your costly units. This will also lead to lowering your furnace’s efficiency, costing you massive amounts in energy costs. The second purpose is to filter out contaminants that will end up in your lungs.
Electrostatic air filters clean the air by using static electricity – a safe, natural phenomenon. To clean them all they have to do is wash them so filters last much longer. These filters are more efficient and create less waste than other types of filters.
Pleated filters are up to 5-times more efficient than a standard air filter. It increases the surface area that is used to catch airborne particles making your unit more efficient and catching more allergens and pollutants.
Standard Air Filters
Air filters are a necessity of your heating and cooling system. They protect your system from particles in the air that will decrease your unit’s efficiency and over time cause costly repairs. They also protect the quality of your air since they remove particles from the air that would otherwise end up in your lungs.
Air Cleaners do just that, they clean your air by removing up to 98% of particles from the air. A standard air filter will only remove up to 10% of the debris from the air. Mean while air cleaners are made to leave your air spotless and allergen free. These out perform any air filter. People with sensitive allergies or respiratory conditions will notice a world of difference with an air cleaner. They will notice a reduced amount of allergen and dust irritation that causes coughing and sneezing. However air cleaners do require a professional to install and are more expensive than an air filter.
Media Air Cleaner
Captures up to 98% of particles down to one micron. Permanently traps and kills captured bacteria and spores, while providing for removal of virus-sized particles. These are more effective but they require you to buy filters and create more waste than an electronic air cleaner.
Electronic Air Cleaner
Ideal for homeowners sensitive to airborne virus, bacteria or mold particles. Removes allergens and mold particles by 99%. Removes indoor virus-sized particles by 80%. Reduces airborne dust by 94%. Less effective than a media air cleaner but uses a washable filter that will save you money and creates less waste.
